EN353

EQUIVALENT / AKA

15NiCr1Mo12 (IS 4432) | 16NiCr4 / 16NiCrMo2 (nearest DIN grades) | 1.5714 / 1.6523 family (nearest Werkstoff) | Close to AISI 4320 / 8620 in application | Nickel-chrome-moly case hardening steel

EN353 is a low carbon nickel-chromium-molybdenum case hardening steel used where a hard wear resistant surface and a tough, ductile core are required. After carburising, hardening and tempering it develops a case hardness of about 58-62 HRC with good core strength. The alloy content gives better hardenability, core toughness and dimensional stability during heat treatment than plain carbon carburising steels, while remaining easier to machine in the annealed condition than the higher nickel EN36C. Steel type: case hardening (carburising) alloy steel.
