INFO
EN19 is a high-tensile, direct-hardening chromium-molybdenum low alloy steel supplied in the hardened and tempered condition. The chromium gives hardenability and wear resistance while the molybdenum suppresses temper brittleness and adds strength at elevated temperature. It offers a good combination of tensile strength (typically 850-1000 N/mm2 in the T condition), ductility, toughness and fatigue resistance in medium to large sections. It machines well in the T condition, responds readily to flame, induction and nitriding treatments, and is used where higher strength than plain carbon steel is required without the nickel content of EN24. Steel type: through-hardening (direct-hardening) alloy structural steel.
